April 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
The EAT-A-THON is a one-of-a-kind community-based fundraiser, camouflaged as an eating competition. This year’s competition, fueled by Jethro’s BBQ and hosted by the Drake Relays, features 12 nonprofits represented by 48 contestants (the eaters!). Eat Greater Des Moines is excited to be 1 of 12 central Iowa nonprofit teams participating in the 13th Annual EAT-A-THON.
Our mission is two-fold:
1) During a Drake Relays break, April 27, our relay team of 4 will try to eat as much of Jethro’s world famous Adam Emmenecker sandwich challenge–a five pound, or 80 ounces, behemoth!–as possible; and
2) prior to the event, secure “per ounce” or “flat” pledges of money in order to turn our Emmenecker ounces into support for our Food Rescue Transportation Program.
Our goal is to not only FINISH the Emmenecker, but to fund our Food Rescue Transportation Program for 1 year. We’ll keep you posted on our team and training (already started!) but we need YOU.
Can you help us reach our goal? Please make a pledge and share with your food rescue supporters/Drake University Alum/otherwise just amazing friends!
