Fresh fruit and vegetable producers can expand their customer base through free programs that allow vendors to accept food assistance programs. The Iowa Wireless EBT program and Farmers Market Nutrition Program allow farmers to expand their customer base by accepting additional payment options. Eat Greater Des Moines provides incentives and reimbursements for those who go through the training programs, as well as incentives for those who refer other vendors. By participating in these training programs, vendors can expand their customer base and ensure that more individuals have access to fresh, local food.
