What are you most excited about during this internship?
As a student at Drake, I never knew how prominent food disparity was in Des Moines and across Iowa. I am excited to work for an organization that is passionate about filling the gaps in the food system in innovative ways. I look forward to learning more about food waste and recovery and being an active participant in meeting the community’s needs.
Share a fun fact about food!
Food has the capability of bringing people together in significant ways. My most vivid memory of this was when I was visiting Consuelo, Dominican Republic. Despite the many barriers in communication between myself and the Consuelo community, the time spent sharing meals never failed to fill that gap. From Mangú, Yuca, Empanadas, and their rendition of American pizza, Dominican food will always hold a special place in my heart.
