Despite the April snow earlier in the morning and the chilly weather Operation: Fresh Produce Drop had a great third week unloading and distributing fresh fruits and veggies in partnership with Loffredo Fresh Foods

This week we distributed 5,781 pounds of product to 17 organizations. In the past three weeks we have distributed over 27,000 pounds of produce to our community.

Each week, EGDM coordinate with the different organizations and worked as the intermediary to bulk purchase cases of fresh produce for at a discounted price. At only  $4 a case, these organizations are able to help supplement their clients and programming to get more healthy foods to those in need.

Operation: Fresh Produce Drop is helping create a new market for these large distributors who have seen business decline due to the closure of schools and restaurants. It also helps small organizations. A lot of the organizations that purchase this produce aren’t traditional food pantry sites. Some are churches, nonprofits, or affordable housing communities who don’t always provide food to their clients but they are seeing a huge increase in need due to COVID-19.

We are excited to watch the Operation: Fresh Produce Drop program grow each week by  continuing to collaborate with all of our incredible partners to help get fresh fruits and veggies to our neighbors in need!

Are you a school, church, nonprofit or other organization who needs food to help support your clients? This fresh produce is open to ANY ORGANIZATION to purchase at this extremely discounted price.
