Nine Square Feet: In light of the current guidelines for social distancing and limited gathering size, we’ve decided to split our annual Plant Swap and Giveaway into two events. First, to hold a very carefully orchestrated plant swap – just for swappers*. Then sometime later in May to distribute excess plants to the community. Although we are still working out all of the details, it’s important for us to know how many swappers would be attending our swap event, now planned for Sat, May 9th in West Des Moines. We have a limited number of slots available and this will be an invitation-only event with specific scheduling of swapping time. Certainly a swap event unlike any other we’ve had. But your safety is our top priority, and we are ready, willing and able to do the extra work to make this happen and keep everyone safe.

*A “swapper” is someone who brings transplants, bulbs or dug perennials to our event to swap for other plant material. We may also be looking for some volunteers to transplant seedlings and care for trays of plants until the swap. These volunteers will be able to “swap” the plants placed in their care. If you want to be added to our email list of swappers, email us at ninesquarefeet@yahoo.com. Let us know how you’d like to be involved. We remain hopeful.
